AND FINALLY….
Euro-Election fever (if we can still use the phrase in these swine infested times) has eventually spluttered onto the highways and byways, with most of the parties’ campaign posters making their first public appearance.
The Alliance Party is evidently still enjoying the Obama afterglow, encouraging distracted drivers that a vote for Alliance is a “Vote for Hope”. Sinn Fein has gone for the tried and tested approach of a pic with Babs and a stonking great big No.1.
Jim Nicholson, though, for the Ulster Conservatives and Unionists – New Force has encountered the first problem of running a joint campaign with the Tories. Typical Unionist voters are conditioned to view euro-elections as a campaign to top the poll ahead of Nationalists, not to remove the sitting Westminster Government.
What slogan then has UCUNF bequeathed Mr. Nicholson, NI’s longest serving MEP of over 20-years?
“Vote for Change”
Genius.
