Regular Stormont watchers will be relieved to see the Diseases of Animals Bill reach its final stage today before being signed into law. It’s a pity it didn’t follow the same approach of the Pensions Regulator Tribunal (Transfer of Functions) Bill which Social Development are seeking to push through the house via the accelerated passage mechanism.
The Wildlife and Natural Environment Bill will receive its first substantive scrutiny today with the Second Reading.
Oral questions for Finance & Personnel can be a dull affair when Stormont’s number crunching anoraks come to the fore but you can always count on Minister Sammy Wilson to liven up events regardless of his portfolio.
Matters are concluded with a DUP motion highlighting the pressures within the foster care sector and calling on the Dept of Health to introduce a new policy encouraging new carers to volunteer.
