The Financial Provisions Bill’s final stage is the prelude to a cultural extravaganza on the hill today. The first act is a solo performance from DCAL Minister Nelson McCausland at the dispatch box for oral questions. Without an interval the Culture Arts and Leisure Committee will then seek the Assembly’s approval for their inquiry report into arts funding in Northern Ireland.
The first item of Private Members business will see a DUP motion expressing concern over the possible axing of the childcare voucher scheme and its impact on work families in Northern Ireland.
The second item of private members business allows political twitchers to catch a glimpse of one of the rarest specimens in the chamber today, a cross-party motion. Expect little dissent to the motherhood and apple pie motion calling on the executive to prioritise spending and tackle neglect of children.
Matters are concluded with an adjournment debate secured by one of the Assembly’s newest members, UUP’s Danny Kinahan on a preferred route for the A8 Ballynure bypass in his South Antrim constituency.
