Question time kicks off the activity on the hill today, with both big and small children’s education receiving the scrutiny of members. Area-Based Planning and the timetable for the new Education & Skills Authority are high among members’ priorities when Education Minister Catriona Ruane takes to the floor, whilst FE colleges and apprenticeships will be prominent when Sir Reg Empey graces the dispatch box for DEL questions.
Barring anything unexpected the assembly will approve an extension for the Water and Sewerage Services (Amendment) Bill and endorse the Social Development Committee’s report into Town Centre Regeneration.
In private members business the SDLP have a motion asking the assembly to commission a Ryan-lite report into abuses and neglect of young people in the care of the state following the revelations in the Republic of Ireland. Matters are concluded with a DUP motion condemning abuses of Christians in the Indian Orissa state.
