Staff at Premier Power were responsible for the £1,000 donation after submitting 500 Behavioural Based Safety (BBS) forms which are used to improve safety standards and safe working practices across the site.

Each time employees and contractors at the plant complete 500 BBS forms Premier Power make a donation to a local charity. The initiative provides an extra incentive for staff to focus on health and safety and helps maintain Premier Power’s strong safety track record at the Islandmagee plant.

Premier Power Communications Manager Barbara Stevenson said:

“At Premier Power we operate to the highest international safety standards. e are delighted to present this donation to Friends of the Cancer Centre. When a person is diagnosed with cancer it is always a traumatic time for them and their families. The Friends of the Cancer Centre do fantastic work supporting patients during those difficult times and helping family and friends cope with the impact upon their lives.

“This is our eighth donation under the scheme and having it in place means our team know that when they focus on health & safety they make a real difference to people’s lives.”

Colleen Shaw from the Friends of the Cancer Centre said:

“Thanks to all the staff at Premier Power for their part in this donation. We support on-site accommodation for families who often have to travel long distances, and provide holistic therapies for patient relaxation and comfort.

“With over 90 per cent of all our income going directly on frontline services to patients, high-tech investment in treatment facilities and research we depend on the generosity of organisations like Premier Power and the public to continue our work.

 “Our message to the team at Ballylumford is well done and keep on keeping safe!”
