“BT is treating local businesses with contempt,” said Eric Carson, Director of Rainbow Telecom, Northern Ireland’s largest independent telecoms provider.

In response to a BT press statement which claimed that BT Retail can provide a 20 per cent saving to all companies of all sizes in Northern Ireland, Mr Carson said:

“Let’s be extremely clear BT can not beat Rainbow Telecom on price.

“I publicly challenge Colm O’Neill, head of BT Business in Ireland to explain how he can better our pricing. I suspect after years of duping the Northern Ireland public he has fallen for his own rhetoric.”

Belfast based Rainbow Telecom has operated for the past decade offering calls, lines, Network Services, VoIP, Broadband, System Maintenance and telephone equipment to its 5,000 business customers in Northern Ireland.

“In recent months we’ve seen a significant increase in business as customers see through BT’s expensive pricing. Rainbow Telecom’s current line rental is up to 20% less than BT’s Business Plan which, combined with the three months of free calls now on offer, represents a saving of 35% for companies switching from BT Retail to Rainbow.

“We also offer local, national and Republic of Ireland calls at 1p per minute – 150% less expensive than BT Retail. Our calls to the four main UK mobile networks are up to 2p less than BT Retail prices, while calls to Republic of Ireland mobiles are 11p per minute cheaper.

“Furthermore Mr Oneill quotes Business One Plan Plus and we guarantee a minimum 20% Discount on this plan. No misleading headline rates just a straightforward 20% discount.

”If all of BT’s business customers switched to Rainbow it would represent a total saving of over £20m for the Northern Ireland business community.

“I look forward to Mr O’Neill taking up my challenge and comparing like for like tariffs”, said Mr Carson.
