stormont1In the absence of Executive business Education questions will form the first of this week’s action in the chamber. On the face of it the questions belay a mature exchange with little opportunity for ill-tempered spats although the folks on the hill rarely disappoint when Minister Ruane takes the floor.

She will be followed at the dispatch box by Sir Reg Empey who will field questions on apprenticeships, delays to student loans, and the merger of QUB and Stranmillis College among others.

The Environment Committee will seek the approval of the Assembly to extend their consideration period for the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill.

The main event of the day is likely to be a Sinn Féin-sponsored motion attacking Eire’s National Asset Management Agency bill as part of their continued campaign against the legislation in the Dáil. Which party apart from SF will be well enough briefed to engage properly in the debate remains to be seen but awaited with interest.

Matters of the day will be concluded with an SDLP’s motion applying pressure to resolve the Civil Service Equal Pay claim and a DUP motion expressing concern about a legal principle’s implication for local agricultural traditions.
