DAIRY FARM SHOPPING CENTRE IN LINE FOR MAJOR REFURBISHMENT

Local development company JP Properties, which owns and operates the Dairy Farm Shopping Centre in west Belfast has unveiled plans for a multi million redevelopment of the site, which will lead to an additional 300 jobs on completion. It is expected that the redevelopment will take up to 24 months to complete and will provide up to 200 construction jobs. JP Properties is has submitted a planning application and has begun a round of consultation with political and community representatives informing them of the details of the scheme.

Plans for the new centre will go on display on the Dairy Farm centre next week and local residents and shoppers are being invited to view the plans.

Centre Manager, Sean Toal said this week,

“The Dairy farm centre is located in the Stewartstown Road in west Belfast, in the middle of an area with a large and growing population. Our plans are aimed at meeting the demands of local shoppers in a way which involves significant financial investment, provides additional employment and will lead to a new landmark shopping and community facility which will help to transform the wider Colin area. This centre will have a very positive impact on west Belfast and beyond.

“We are very confident that our plans will meet with a positive response from local people and we have already begun a series of meetings with local representatives. All of the existing tenants at the store have been kept up to date with the plans and through our expansion programme we will be increasing the retail offering to shoppers at the Dairy Farm. We have been in contact with two major supermarkets and there is already very strong interest in basing a new flagship store at the centre.”

The development plans are designed in a way which complements and contributes to the existing physical layout of the Stewartstown Road and surrounding area.

Notes. The Dairy Farm Centre  opened in 1991. Outline plans will be on display within the Centre from next Wednesday, 6th May and will be on display over the following weekend. Centre Management and the architects will be available for discussion and to answer any queries from 3pm – 6pm next Wednesday.
